Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), Bengaluru invites applications for research positions leading to a PhD degree under the following research categories: (Deadline extended till 25th October)
- Microbial Genomics and Evolution
- Plant-Microbe interactions using medicinal plant microbiome
- Molecular Parasitology using omics and CRISPR/CAS technologies.
- Generation of high-value yeast strains using metabolic engineering approaches
- Computer aided phytodrug discovery.
- Modeling autoimmune disease mechanisms with systems biology approaches.
Eligibility:
Master’s degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in Biology from a reputed institute with at least 60% of marks or 6.50 CGPA. Candidates must have their own fellowship from funding agencies such as CSIR/UGC/DST/DBT/ICMR etc., to apply for these positions.
For positions under categories 1 and 2, M.Sc in Bioinformatics / Computational Biology / Systems Biology is preferred. Experience in Linux environment and an interest to learn computer programming will be added advantages. Successful candidates will get hands on training on data handling, interpretation, and analysis, along with opportunities to learn programming languages.
For positions under category 3, M.Sc in Life Sciences with a minimum of one-year training in molecular and cell biology techniques is required. Experience in handling malaria parasites and infected human blood will be added advantages. Successful candidates will get hands-on training in state-of-the-art genome editing, NGS and cell biology techniques. biochemical techniques such as protein purification. The candidate will also be trained in NGS analysis pipelines and related bioinformatics tools.
For positions under category 4, M.Sc in Life Sciences with a minimum of six-months working experience in molecular biology techniques is required. Successful candidates will get hands-on training yeast genetics, cloning methods, the latest DNA assembly, gene expression analyses, and gene editing technologies.
For positions under category 5, M.Sc in Physics, Chemistry or Life Sciences with a strong understanding of atomic chemistry is required. Proven experience in computer programming and scripting is highly desirable.
For positions under category 6, MSC in life sciences, bioinformatics or biotechnology is required. The candidate should have interest and desire to learn computational and statistical analysis methods required for the work.
