Hands on Workshop on
“Transcriptome library preparation and RNA-seq Analysis”
February 22-24, 2025

The Bio-IT Centre at IBAB is organizing a three-day hands on workshop on ”Transcriptome library preparation and RNA-seq analysis” on  February 22-24, 2025 . This workshop will provide hands-on training in RNA qualitative and quantitative analysis, library preparation for RNA profiling of RNA libraries using tapestation and an introduction to NGS sequencing platforms. Basic Linux and R command line, RNA seq data analysis, Processing NGS data, aligning and counting reads, differential gene expression analysis, Pathway analysis.

Target Audience:

The course is aimed at students, researchers, and technicians who wish to employ NGS sequencing approaches in their work but may not have sufficient training in/awareness of library preparation, a key step in data analysis, and data analysis using R. Ph.D. scholars/postdoctoral fellows/JRFs/faculty involved in pure experimental biological research are encouraged to apply. The course will also be beneficial to those pursuing M.Sc./ M.Tech. in Biotechnology/Life Sciences/Microbiology/Biosciences who may be interested in transitioning to molecular biology/ bioinformatics-focused opportunities in academia or industry. Teachers from undergraduate and postgraduate teaching institutions and research institutes across Karnataka are also encouraged to apply. Please note that minimal eligibility is pursuing a Bachelor’s  degree.

Twenty-five candidates will be selected for this workshop on a first-come basis.

RegistrationFee(inclusiveofGST):These fees are only for those working in India. If you are working abroad, please email workshops@ibab.ac.in for payment details.

About Bio-ITCentre:

The Bio-IT Research and Training Centre (Bio-IT Centre) was established at the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB) in 2010 with support from the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeITY), the Government of India, and the Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka. Bio-IT Centre has a state-of-art sequencing facility with the high-throughput sequencer HiSeq 2500 and several accessory equipments such as a Hi-Scan system for Illumina bead array and microarray-based imaging, Qubit, C-bot, Covaris, Bio-analyzer and Agilent 2200 Tape-station for the processing of DNA and RNA samples, Stratagene Mx 3000 for Real-Time PCR, and 3500 Dx Genetic Analyzer for capillary electrophoresis based sequencing. Bio-IT Centre provides sequencing and analysis services in either collaborative or service mode. The Centre also regularly organizes introductory and advanced bioinformatics and NGS analysis workshops.
