Prof. H. Sharat Chandra

Prof. Sharat Chandra is Director, Centre for Human Genetics, Emeritus Professor, Indian Institute of Science and Honorary Professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research. He obtained his PhD from the University of California at Berkeley. Subsequently, he joined the Indian Institute of Science in 1975 as a Professor. Prof. Sharat Chandra was also the Director of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad from 1990-92. He has multiple publications to his credit and has mentored many students and post-doctoral fellows. Prof. Sharat Chandra has served on several high ranking committees. In addition, he has been the editor of the Journal of Genetics for over ten years. Prof. Sharat Chandra has been the recipient of many honours and awards for his work.
