Background:

Jayashree received her Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin-Madison, U.S.A (2012) in the area of vibronic spectroscopy in theoretical chemistry where she built theoretical models to understand the vibronic spectroscopy and dynamics of the methoxy radical in its ground and excited electronic states. Her postdoctoral research at University of Toronto (2012 – 2017) expanded her research expertise to vibronic dynamics of electronic excitation energy transfer in molecules. In Toronto she developed and implemented an efficient fragment-based localized operator partitioning method as a tool to probe the excitation energy on a chosen fragment in a rigorous manner hence allowing the tracking of excitation energy transport in both intermolecular and intramolecular quantum transport phenomena in molecules. As a Ramanujan faculty fellow at the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (2018-2023), India she diversified her interests further to include problems in biology from a quantum mechanical perspective, particularly those involving photoinduced vibronic phenomena. In IISc she worked on the photophysics of molecular aggregates, weak noncovalent interactions in biomolecules and singlet fission in organic materials.
